STRATEGIC PLANNING

© Thank the Lord for guiding the team that is working on finalizing the Country Strategic Plan. ØPray that every staff of TLM will be blessed with the wisdom to accept changes within TLM, positively so that TLM as an organization will be able to effectively serve the leprosy affected persons in the society.

TLM VTC NASHIK

© Praise God for the SEVA GAURAV AWARD received - from Chimanlal Govinddas Memorial Trust, Pune for excellence in vocational training. The award was given acknowledging TLM VTC’s (Nashik) service in the field of training and rehabilitation provided to the Leprosy affected and the physically challenged. This is the second award received in the year 2010.

REHABILITATION

ØPray for the community based rehabilitation projects that work towards the development of communities. Pray that the time bound project activities and efforts made in the societies will be sustainable. Pray for all the Programme Managers, staff and volunteers that they will be effective in bringing good changes.

© Praise God for the completion of 1^st 2^nd year of Diploma in Ophthalmic Technology Course and their final examinations; Pray for the new academic year.

ØPray for Ms. Shatabdi Mondal who joined Kothara in July 2010 as Accounts Trainee for one year. Pray also for the staff involved in training.

VOLUNTEERS

There are several volunteers who work with TLM staff to reach out to the vulnerable communities in the project areas. ØPray that they will receive God’s blessing to work courageously for changes in those villages they work. Let their interactions with TLM staff inspire them to understand the message of Lord Jesus Christ.

TLM Hospital Faizabad

Pray for

Øthe urgent need of a medical officer

Ø the need of OT building and the funds for construction.

Ø Bhaktinpurwa, a small village near the hospital was affected by fire in the summer. 23 houses with belongings, livestock, harvested crops etc., were destroyed in addition to burn injuries to people. About 200 people were affected. TLM hospital & VTC family intervened by cleaning, rebuilding houses and providing necessities. Pray for further healing and restoration of the community.

© the outcome of advocacy efforts with the district administration: By a direction from the District Collector, “Disability Issues” are discussed in Gramasabhas and 861 panchayaths on the Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanthi Day, and other Grama Panchayat meetings.

Ø the training programme for the NGOs, leaders from ‘pressure groups’

Øthe formation of Block and District level federation of ‘persons affected by Leprosy and disability’ during this month.

PROMOTIONAL SUPPORT & DEVELOPMENT (PSD)

ØPray for the system changes within TLM towards streamlining the promotional support and raising local resources for continued work. Pray for right personnel to be recruited, correct methodologies to be followed. Pray for the openings in Churches, institutions and the corporate sector.

Pray for new openings for different fundraising programmes and new donors to partner with the mission. Some of the donors who assured of their support for PSD programmes at their institutions had delayed their decisions leading to the cancellation of a few programmes.

TLM Hospital Champa

Pray for

Ø recruitment of new doctors/medical officers.

Øthe “ongoing construction work of the new OPD block”.

ØMr. Jaswant Ram who has joined B.Sc. nursing course at Dhamtari Christian Hospital College.

Ø Mr. Suyash Ajay Masih (husband of Mrs.Tripti Sonia, staff nurse) who has been under cardiac treatment.

ØPray for the TLM Board, sub- committees, directors and managers at the national and regional offices that they will have the wisdom to lead the mission and its holistic activities through different arms and activities of the mission.

Ø Pray for the Reviews of the work in TLM hospitals and Programmes. Pray for the internal audit team

Praise God and pray for the staff members:

Pray for the bereaved: Ø Dr. Milind Chavan lost his mother & Ø Mrs.Punitha Sasi (Staff Nurse ) lost her father-in-law; may the Lord comfort their family members.

Pray for Ø the RCS camp scheduled during 13^th to 16^th; pray that all eligible patients will make use of the opportunity.

Ø patients:

-Ramakrishnan & Adhimoolam, who had below-knee amputation; pray for their continued healing and rehabilitation.

- Madurai Veeran who is suffering from complicated ulcer & waiting for BK amputation.

-many patients suffering from DM / ulcer and skin problems.

SELF HELP GROUPS/ EMPOWERMENT

Praise God and Pray for all the Self Help Groups functioning in the fields that they will be effective, sustainable and will bring development within the society. ØPray for the volunteers that they will continue to function and influence their communities. Pray that the self employment programmes started by SHGs and members will grow and make them independent.

TLM PROJECT: TRANSFORMING COMMUNITIES, KOLKATA

The project identified a new leprosy prone area: Khanaberiya, Dhapa, Kolkata. >>>

Pray for

Øthe Adult Literacy classes started with the cooperation of local clubs; 29 poor women are regularly attending.

Ø38 dropout children- re-enrolled in to schools.

Ø5 SHGs formed, Ø1 Self Care group formed.

Ø19 leprosy affected people are being helped.

Ømore community participation and Govt. support in the work.

SPIRITUAL NURTURE

ØPray for the spiritual well being and testimony of all the staff that they will be able to minister to one another. Pray for the Counselors at all the centres who serve the patients at the hospitals and trainees at VTCs. Pray for the meetings, retreats and workshops conducted towards spiritual nurture will be effective.

PREVENTION OF DISABILITY/ SELF CARE

TLM staff at the hospital and projects train the leprosy affected people in preventing further disabilities through training in self-care. ØPray that the patients will practice self-care measures regularly and stay healthy.

TLM HOSPITAL VADATHORASALUR

Pray for

Ø RCS camp scheduled in August 17-20. Pray for the surgeon and the staff team that will be engaged in the camp.

ØMr. Muniyandi and Mrs. Padma who were transferred from TLM Poladpur;

ØMrs. Marthamma who is transferred from Belgaum, expected to join the center as Business Manager from the 16^th August; pray that they will settle down well in the new environment.

©Praise God and pray for the 51 TLM partner institutions that are serving the sick and the children from leprosy affected families through medical, education, training and other welfare programmes.

ØPray for continued support and cooperation from the government and the local administration to carry on towards the goal of The Leprosy Mission.

Pray for the programme:

ØReview of TLM Partners – Hospitals: Vadala Mission Hospital and the Bethesda Leprosy Hospital, during the last week of August.

ØPray for the need of a suitable Medical Officer (Leprosy) at Christian Fellowship and Community Health Centre, Shantipuram, Dindigul, TN (ALM Partner). The situation was vacant after the recent death of Dr. Prasad Cherian (Jacob). Pray for the family of Dr. Cherian.

ØPray for the churches and donors who sacrifice and contribute to the services of TLM. Pray for all the supporting countries, who mobilize resources for TLM India for its health services and community based developmental projects.

LEPROSY SUNDAY

ØPray for the churches in India to welcome the TLM’s Leprosy Sunday programme towards making the congregation leprosy-friendly and to partner in eradicating leprosy and helping the affected.

SURGERIES

ØPray for the Reconstructive and Ophthalmic surgeries conducted across TLM hospitals. Pray for the patients who need constant follow up and aftercare. Pray for the specialists who travel for the surgery camps and for the local TLM centre staff who are involved. Pray for the 6,718 patients who were benefited last year through the surgeries and that many deserving and needy patients will be identified and helped.

TLM MIZORAM

The TLM PSD wing of Mizoram is having its Silver Jubilee celebrations and general meetings at Lunglei, Mizoram during 21- 22. The Chief Minister of Mizoram who is the chief guest will grace the celebration. Dr. Sunil Anand, Dr. Shyamala Anand and Rev Dr. Santosh George are attending these meetings. Pray for the advancement of PSD efforts through this programme.

TLM STAFF

ØPray for all the TLM staff especially those who travel, under training, newly joined and retired staff. Pray for staff on training and sponsored students. Pray that the Lord will protect them and help each one of them in their specific needs.

STIGMA ELIMINATION

© Praise God for the changes brought in the society as to stigma on leprosy through TLM’s involvement and programmes in several neediest districts in India (CADIP, STS and other community projects).

Ø Pray for improved awareness and attitudinal changes among people about leprosy through different initiatives of TLM in cooperation with other national and state bodies.

COMPREHENSIVE REHABILITATION

©ØPraise God and Pray for programmes - Catch Them Young (CTY), Socio Economic Rehabilitation (SER), Low-Cost Housing (LCH), and Re-uniting, which work through TLM Hospitals, Projects and Partner Institutions. Pray that all these measures will benefit the most deserving among the leprosy affected people.

©Praise God and pray for all the TLM Hospitals across the country to give holistic healthcare- physical, mental, social and spiritual- to the leprosy affected and the needy. ØPray for all the medical and other administrative staff teams serve the people and the community.

TECHNICAL PERSONNEL

ØPray for the accounting and administrative staff in all the TLM centres, who are working in finance and accounts. Pray for all the technical staff; and facilities they handle for the better functioning of TLM services. Pray for people who maintain and operate machines, vehicles computers, soft-wares and handle various other logistics.

ØPray that these children will continue to be helped in education and will have a better life.

MERCY HOMES

©ØPraise God and pray for the five Snehalayas at Almora (Uttarkhand); Bankura (WB); Purulia (WB); Faizabad (UP); Naini (UP) where elderly people affected by leprosy and rejected by relatives are taken care. ØPray for the staff who serve them with love and joy. Pray for the efforts made at different centres to contact the relatives and help relatives visit them.

TRAINING

ØPray for all the six TLM Vocational Training Centres (VTC) at Bankura(WB); Champa(CG); Faizabad(UP); Nashik(MH); Vadathorasalur(TN); Vizianagaram(AP). Pray for the new batches of trainees and the principal, staff and placement personnel who attend to their training and wellbeing at each of these centres.

© PRAISE AND THANK GOD for His provision of resources and the opportunities to serve the leprosy affected and related communities during the month of August. Let us thank God for the protection of all our staff and families. HEALTHCARETLM PROMOTIONAL SUPPORT AND DEVELOPMENT (PSD)

Praise God and pray for the Churches that support the work among the leprosy affected through TLM.
Pray for the Fundraising workshop (Phase II) held at Noida today and tomorrow, that it will result in the advancement of TLM’s PSD efforts in the country.

PSD Tamil Nadu

Praise God for © the successful Leprosy Sunday programme conducted during three different services at the CSI St. All Souls English Church, Coimbatore on 20^th of June and for the cooperation and support of Rev. J. Joshua Karamchander and the Church committee in mobilizing donations. © the "Save a Life Campaign" started in 3 schools of CSI Madurai -Ramnad Diocese in June 2010. Ø Pray for the needed co-operation from the concerned school managements in the remaining 27 Institutions.

Praise God for © 'Project Blossom' of Rotary and the (Dist 3230, Chennai) for the initiatives they have taken in raising donations from Rotary club of Wales and Rotary International.

Ø Pray for Programme today: (ICD Project) Delhi: Networking with government organizations and NGOs arranged at North East Delhi along with TLM Hospital Shahdara.

Special Prayer for

Praise God and pray for the 18 TLM hospitals and Partner institutions which serve the communities around especially the leprosy affected people. Pray for all the doctors and nursing staff that the Lord will use them effectively to serve the sick with their skills, and that the patients will experience physical and spiritual healing.

SKILL TRAINING

Pray for

Ø the skill training and capacity building programmes through the six TLM Vocational Training Centres. Ø the trainees from disability and leprosy backgrounds, especially for recruitment of the new batch.

Ø all the trainees who are appearing for the NCVT final examinations in July 2010.

Ø VTC staff and families who train and attend to them.

VTC CHAMPA

Pray for

Ø the two campus interviews scheduled for the first week of July; the placement of the outgoing batch.

Ø the recruitment of the new batch (2010-11) which will be held in July.

Ø the approval of new trades: Production- cum Training and Welder trades.

Ø the final exams of ‘formal course’ trainees during the last week of July; for their travel, accommodation and good health.

Ø the ‘Inplant training’/ industrial visits by Diesel Mechanic and Electric trades trainees.

TLM HOSPITL KOTHARA

Praise God for © the three counselors' orientation and training at Kothara for one month; that it will be helpful for their work.

© new staff joined in June - Mr. Reuban Daniel ( Physiotherapist) and Mrs. Mumtaz Aslam (house- keeping), who has been transferred from TLM Poladpur; Ø Pray that they will get adjusted in the new environment.

Ø pray for good rain in the region.

TLM HOSPITAL CHAMPA

Praise God for © the new project staff Mr. Ranjan Roy (C.D.O/C.R.P), Mr. Alok Benjamin Tirkey, (Social Worker, ICMR/EVER); that the Lord will strengthen to carry out the work.

Pray for

Ø Mr. Shamuvel Jog, who has been shifted from Miraj to Champa to support the IT/HMS related areas of TLM Champa; that the Lord will help him.

Ø the Medical Superintendents and the staff team to attend to the needs of the increasing number of patients.

VTC Nashik: Ø Pray for the visit of Mr. Markus Freudiger and Mr. Eugen Krebse (TLM Switzerland) as they travel during 7- 10 July.

TLM HOSPITL SHAHDARA

Praise God for

© the provision of new Slit Lamp and Operating Microscope for Ophthalmic services. © the blessed retreat for the Hospital and SB Laboratory staff, at Bhowali, Nainital on 13^th June. (Rev. J. Masih, former Principal of Allahabad Bible seminary, was the resource person at the retreat).

Pray for

Ø the provision of a YAG Laser and Phaco machine to the hospital as part of upgrading and building up the Ophthalmic department.

Ø bereaved family of Mrs. Sushma David whose father passed away on 7th June.

July 9 FRI

TLM HOSPITL POLADPUR

Praise God for

Pray for

Ø Snehalaya patients: Suman and Dagudu Lad who have been shifted to RLH Miraj. They were able to accept the change after much counseling. Pray that both will be happier there and get adjusted to the new atmosphere and friends.

Ø leprosy patients who need institutional care, will be accepted by the Government Health care system in the District of Raigad, as the in- patients services are closed at the TLM Hospital.

Pray for Programme today: Project (LCDP) Delhi: Awareness programmes in schools on Leprosy related stigma.

Praise God for © the ‘mercy patients’ Mr. Dagadu (60) and Miss. Suman age (60) who were shifted from Poladpur; they are happily settled. © the successful retreat of staff and family at Pilar, Goa during 19-20 June.

Pray for

Ø healing of patients: Krishnappa, Baban and Laxman who are suffering from complicated ulcer; Pradeep, from type II reactions.

Ø the RCS camp, which will be held in the first week of August, expecting more than 60 patients.

TLM Project: COMMUNITY AWARENESS AND DISABILITY IMPAIRMENT PREVENTION (CADIP) - II

Pray for

Ø the project extended to and implemented in Srikakulam, West Godavari, Thane, Karjat and Nashik.

Ø the effective completion of the survey and to start the project programmes.

Ø permissions to be secured from the concerned officials, to work at Wada (Thane).

Ø the programme, Haqeqat, produced by the Media Centre and telecast on the ZEE TV every Saturday at 6.00 AM.

SNEHALAYAS

Pray for the five Snehalayas at different TLM centres (Almora, Bankura, Faizabad, Naini and Purulia). Pray for the old and frail 187 patients and those who take care of them. Pray that the social stigma attached to leprosy will be removed and the relatives will accept them.

Praise God and pray for all the departments, leaders and staff of the Head Office, New Delhi and the Mass Media Centre, Noida. Pray for the Regional Office personnel and the community projects in these areas. Pray for the safety and protection of all the staff, especially those who travel.

Praise God and Pray for the counselors and physiotherapists at all the TLM centres and projects. Pray that they will be able to reach out effectively to the patients who come to the hospitals, and minister to the trainees at VTCs.

COMPREHENSIVE REHABILITATION

Praise God and Pray for programmes - Catch Them Young (CTY), Socio Economic Rehabilitation (SER), Low-Cost Housing (LCH), and Re-uniting, which work through TLM Hospitals, Projects and Partner Institutions. Pray that all these measures will benefit the most deserving among the leprosy affected people.

ACCOUNTANTS & TECHNICAL PERSONNEL

Pray for the accounting and administrative staff in all the TLM centres, who are working on finance

and accounts. Pray for all the technical staff; and facilities they handle for the better functioning of TLM services. Pray for people who maintain and operate machines, vehicles computers, soft-wares and various other logistics.
